South Tower

The façade of Porto Cathedral is bounded by two bell towers, built in the medieval period but topped by balustrades and bulbous domes from the 18th century. Designed to receive the church bells, today only the north tower fulfils this function. The south tower, which is accessible to visitors, was known for centuries as the Clock Tower because it housed the bells related to the clock's mechanism. From there you can enjoy a magnificent view over the city.
