Registry Office Room

The registry office room served as an archive and dispatch room. From its original arrangement, the rows of blue and white tiles dating from 1718 and made in Lisbon remain. The figure of Saint Michael the Archangel and the personified Four Seasons, alluding to the passage of time, stand out among the abundant Baroque decoration.
The crucifix represents the miraculous image of the Lord of the Beyond, which was once venerated inside the church and was the object of much devotion in the city of Porto and the surrounding area. Believers turned to it in times of calamity, putting their faith in the many wonders the image performed.
The diptych painted is by the artist Armanda Passos (1944-2021) and represents the theme of the Epiphany or Adoration of the Magi.
